I have two questions about a passage in the above named book:
1) in the passage τούς πολίτας εν τήι δίκηι και ευσεβειαι επαιδευσεν why is it τους and not τας πολίτας?
2) another passage says οι δε πολιται δια την αρετην και ευσεβειαν πανταχού ισχυουσιν. What is the meaning of ισχυω? I can't find it anywhere.

I read online that "Chronos" means "time". I presume that's Greek, but if it is, is it ancient or modern Greek? Because, I tried several dictionaries and they didn't seem to recognise it (and additionally managed to make me feel pretty stupid ( Read more... )

Does anyone know a site with a good font for Ancient Greek? I've searched but haven't had much luck with what I've found so far. I have one, but it's lacking in iota subscripts and some of the accents, which makes it less than useful for actually writing out quotes. Thanks

Anyone have any idea how to get Polytonic Greek working on MS Word for the Mac? I have the Apple Polytonic Greek support installed, and it works like a dream. On literally everything but Word that is. It works perfectly on the freebie Apple word processor, but sadly that tends to bugger up my footnotes (of which there are many).
